1. About these terms
These terms form a contract between you and Digital Intentions Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17402873, with its registered office at Office 1, Izabella House, 24-26 Regent Place, Birmingham, B1 3NJ ("Amana", "we", "us") governing your use of the Amana mobile application and this website.
By creating an account you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, do not create an account.
Our Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines, Profile Quality Guidelines and Trust & Safety Policy form part of these terms.
Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under UK law, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Where any term conflicts with a right you have by law, your legal right prevails.
2. Who can use Amana
You may use Amana only if:
- you are 18 years of age or over;
- you are seeking marriage, or acting as a guardian for someone who is;
- you have not previously been permanently suspended from Amana;
- you are legally able to enter into a contract with us.
Amana is designed for people seeking marriage in the United Kingdom. As part of identity verification we ask about your right to reside in the UK and record your answer. Your answer does not restrict your access to the service — it is recorded so that other members have accurate information. See our Trust & Safety Policy.
3. Your account
You must register using your real name. Amana does not offer aliases, usernames or display names. Information you provide about yourself must be accurate, and you must keep it up to date.
You must have exclusive use of the email address you register with, and you must confirm it before you can use the service. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity carried out under your account.
You may hold only one account for yourself. Creating additional accounts — in particular, to evade enforcement action — is a breach of these terms.
Tell us immediately if you believe someone else has accessed your account.
4. Membership and payment
Amana is a paid service with a single membership tier. There is no free tier and no premium tier. Beyond signing up and confirming your email address, an active membership is required to use the service.
The one exception is that female members who have completed government ID verification are granted full access without payment. This is granted when that verification completes, not at signup, and it depends on the verification remaining in force.
Payment
- Subscriptions are sold and processed through Google Play billing. Your payment relationship for the transaction is with Google, and Google's own terms apply to it alongside these terms.
- We never receive or store your card details.
- The price and billing period are shown before you subscribe and you will not be charged without confirming. [price — to be confirmed]
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled. You cancel through your Google Play account settings, not through Amana.
Cancellation and refunds
You have a statutory right to cancel a distance contract within 14 days. Because Amana is digital content and service that begins immediately, we ask you to acknowledge at purchase that supply starts at once, which may affect that right.
Refund requests for purchases made through Google Play are handled under Google's refund process. We will support a request where it is reasonable to do so.
No refund is due for any period during which your account was suspended or restricted for breaching these terms.
[cancellation and refund terms — to be confirmed at legal review]
5. Verification checks
Verification checks are optional. You may complete some, all or none of them.
You agree that:
- every document you submit is genuine and relates to you;
- we may share what you submit with the relevant verification provider so the check can be carried out;
- we may display the outcome of a check on your profile;
- a badge that expires will be displayed as lapsed rather than removed, and you and your current matches will be notified.
Submitting a fraudulent document is the most serious breach of these terms and will result in permanent suspension without prior warning. We may also report it to the relevant authorities.
We do not warrant that a verification check is infallible. A check confirms that a document or record appeared genuine at the time it was examined. It is not a guarantee about the person, their character, their intentions, or their suitability as a spouse. See our verification explainer.
Where a check carries a fee, the fee is shown before you commit, with the provider's charge and the payment processing charge itemised separately. Fees for completed checks are not refundable, including where the result is not the one you hoped for.
6. How you must behave
Our Community Guidelines set this out in full and form part of these terms. In summary, you must not:
- harass, threaten, abuse or intimidate anyone, or continue contacting someone who has disengaged;
- send sexual content or solicit it;
- request money, gifts, financial information or investment from another member, or attempt to defraud anyone;
- impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your age, marital status, circumstances or intentions;
- submit a document that is not genuine or not yours;
- share another member's photographs, messages or personal information;
- use Amana commercially, or to advertise, recruit or solicit;
- coerce or pressure anyone into a marriage, a meeting or a decision;
- use Amana if you are under 18, or contact anyone you believe to be under 18;
- attempt to circumvent, probe or interfere with the security of the service, use automated means to access or collect data from it, or reverse engineer any part of it;
- create a new account to evade enforcement action.
7. Enforcement
Where you breach these terms we may issue a warning, restrict your account for seven days, or permanently suspend it. Our Trust & Safety Policy sets out what each level means and what typically triggers it.
Serious conduct results in permanent suspension at the first occurrence, without a warning first.
Enforcement decisions are made by a person. Automated content checking can flag material for review but cannot take action against an account on its own.
If you believe a decision was wrong, contact us and a person will review it again.
Suspension does not affect your right to obtain a copy of your data or to have it erased. Those rights are not conditional on your account being in good standing.
8. Guardian accounts
If you create a profile as a guardian for another person, you additionally agree that:
- that person is 18 or over, and has agreed to you creating and operating a profile for them;
- the information you provide about them is accurate;
- you are responsible for everything done through that profile, as if it were your own;
- the profile will not be discoverable by other members until your own government ID check is verified;
- the profile will be labelled as guardian-created wherever it appears, and this cannot be turned off;
- you can read all of that profile's conversations, and you will treat what you read responsibly;
- each profile requires its own membership; yours does not cover theirs.
We do not verify the relationship you state. Creating a profile for someone without their agreement is a breach of these terms.
Unlinking a guardian from a profile cannot be reversed in the app. If done in error, contact us.
9. Chaperoned conversations
You may invite another Amana member to read a single conversation. The invitation has no effect unless the other participant accepts it.
If you accept a chaperone role, you may read the conversation you were invited to and nothing else. You must not share, copy or disclose its contents to anyone. You cannot send messages or make calls in that conversation.
Whoever sent the invitation may withdraw it at any time, and it ends automatically if the match ends. It is not restored by a later rematch.
10. Content you upload
You keep ownership of everything you upload — your photographs, recordings, and what you write.
You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and display that content solely for the purpose of operating Amana and providing the service to you: showing your profile to other members, delivering your messages, and running our moderation processes. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where we are required to retain something as described in the Privacy Policy.
We will not use your photographs, recordings or profile in marketing or advertising without asking you separately and getting your agreement.
You confirm you have the right to upload what you upload, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.
We may remove content that breaches these terms.
11. Mosques, counsellors and third parties
Amana lists participating mosques, marriage-related events, and Imams and counsellors offering guidance. These listings are provided by those organisations. We do not employ, supervise, endorse or vet them, and any arrangement you enter into is directly between you and them.
There is no booking or payment through Amana for these services, and we are not party to what follows.
Community verification granted by a mosque reflects community familiarity, not identity or character verification.
12. What Amana does not promise
To be direct about the limits of what a platform can offer:
- We do not promise you will find a spouse, receive interest, or receive any particular number of matches.
- We do not vouch for any member. We do not meet members, interview them, or assess their character or suitability.
- Verification is a check on documents, not a character reference. A verified member may still behave badly.
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Features may be unavailable at times, and some — such as calling on restrictive networks — have known limitations described in our help centre.
- Automated content checking is not comprehensive. It covers text and images, not audio or video, and it does not catch everything.
Please read our practical safety guidance. It is there because the judgement about a person remains yours.
13. Ending your membership
You can stop using Amana at any time. To stop being billed, cancel the subscription through your Google Play account settings — deleting the Amana app does not cancel a subscription.
To delete your account and your data, use the deletion option in the app. This is immediate and cannot be undone. What is removed and what is retained is set out in the Privacy Policy.
We may end or suspend your access where you have breached these terms, or where we are required to by law, or where we cease to operate the service — in which case we will give reasonable notice and refund any unused prepaid period.
14. Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
Subject to that, and because Amana connects you with other people whose conduct we do not control:
- we are not liable for the conduct of any member, whether on Amana or elsewhere, including anything that happens if you meet someone in person;
- we are not liable for the accuracy of information a member provides about themselves;
- we are not liable for the services of any mosque, counsellor or other third party listed in the app;
- we are not liable for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable, or for business losses.
[liability cap and full limitation wording — to be settled at legal review]
15. Changes to the service and these terms
We may change or discontinue features. Where a change materially reduces what you receive during a paid period, we will tell you and, where appropriate, offer a refund of the unused portion.
We may update these terms. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will notify you in the app before it takes effect rather than relying on you checking this page. If you do not accept the change, you may cancel and delete your account.
16. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes may be brought in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.
Please contact us first — most complaints are resolved without formality. [alternative dispute resolution provider — to be confirmed]
17. General
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Our not enforcing a term on one occasion does not waive it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else. These terms, together with the documents referred to in them, are the entire agreement between us.
